An email submission came in from Jonathan. What he wrote is great and is pasted as follows:

Somebody felt the need to pimp their papyrus. What appears to be a mix of gradient, inner glow, drop shadow, and a possible use of bevel synthesize to form a great example of what I like to call 'Rat's Nest Typography,'

the goal being to leave no tacky photoshop filter un-utilized.
