Shout it out loud!

Gee-mo-nee! They really (heart) papyrus here:

Amy comes through again!

feel more beautiful! Salons seem to love it.

You gotta be careful. You use a font that beautiful and it may discourage beauty seekers. It's like, that's beautiful enough. I'll just crack another Natti Light and bask in that. Thank you Amy!

Get baskin'!

On the Road Again

Sundays are my long run days (no, not a diarrhea razmatazz). I am training to run another marathon and Sunday is best for the lengthier outings. Well the other day, as I was ridin' over there, I cozied up next to this minivan at Cooper Lake and South Cobb.

Oh yeah I got close enough to touch it.

On a semi-political note, these signs are going up in the northwest Atlanta area (Vinings / Smyrna):

So yeah, with all the turmoil in Washington and politics in general, I think the State Senate (and every branch of government) could use a few more stoners. I mean, it might chill'em out and keep the bickering down... Plus, they'd probably become lethargic and stop passing as many assinine laws.

Retirement Never Looked So Good

or tranqil... And right about now, I think I'm about ready. Thanks to Brandon, I now know where that has to happen. He writes:
I wanna retire now! If I start saving all my papyrus now, will I be able to live off of it when I’m not able to find it on my own? Does the government keep any of my papyrus now in order to “help” me later?

I'm not sure what this is:

Thanks Brandon!

Cover Grrl

Yoga and Papyrus are like peas and carrots evidentally... or like anything and ranch dressing... anything and peanut butter, you know? They're made for each other. This time, they comprimised the integrity of a letter but it's sorta cute.

Tres chic, Papyrus.

Alaska is Calling

Hillel writes:
I found your site while trying to convice a friend not to use Papyrus in the logo for the literary magazine she edits on campus. Maybe this will influence her decision. I was in Alaska for a couple weeks earlier in the summer. Every third store has Papyrus on its sign. A quarter of all brochures use it. It's incredible! The level of creativity is astonishing. I didn't take any pictures (not that my memory card would have been able to to hold all of them anyway) but I did find these on a friend's bookshelf:

All the books in the Hitchhiker's series of that edition are set like that. And to think that I'm trying to get a design job, possibly in publishing. How hard can it be? Keep it up.

I'll make sure I get a monster memory card if I go. Thanks a lot Hillel!

The Perfect Papyrus Lovers Pizza

Brandon sent this:
Will you still need me?
Will you still feed me (artichoke and roasted garlic pizza)?
When I'm 64?
This one even features Papyrus Bold. In the phrase: "All Natural." But Papyrus isn't naturally bold!!! Liars! Linda McCartney is a devious bitch!

The pizza was good though.

I (heart) Papyrus so much, I'd consider eating the box. Thanks, Brandon.

It Never Hurts to Help

What a Wench Wants, What a Wench Needs

On my birthday, some friends and I went to the radiskull little restaurant, Vortex, in Atlanta. We went to the one in midtown, where if you eat outside, you get to experience the joy of hundreds of thumpin' Escalades, all pounding a different lil' ditty. It's like a seismic, hip-hop smorgasborg.

But this guy was there.

Wenches want him and wearing that shirt, it's certainly unclear as to why. I mean, Papyrus is on the shirt! It's a real chicken or the egg.

An Email from Papyrus Creator Chris Costello!

The creator of the typeface, Papyrus sent me an email!

Hi Joe,

I had no idea Papyrus was THAT overused... now I have to redesign my site.

Your blog is a lot of fun. It inspired me to create my own:

http://nomiddleroad.blogspot.com/

Hope you don't mind me including a link to yours and I would definitely appreciate your comments and those of anyone else you might want to send there.

Thanks,
Thank you! I don't mind at all! Can you believe that?

Hey, check out his post on wheather a similar fate is in store for Papyrus. It's actually a really cool little Flash piece called "Behind the TypeFace".

Veer rocks!

Hoodia Splash? Yer Mom, That's Who

I don't know. I'm sorry. It's 4AM. I spent a long night at Portfolio Center helping the students bust their tails for quarter-end critiques. The quarter ends this week. Anyhow, I saw this stuff at a Health Food store:

It's a beverage with the hunger-curbing, hoodia, in it. It's supposedly all natural and among other things, curbs appetite. That blurry font there at the bottom is Papyrus meaning that this one bottle offers you an opportunity to quench your thirst, curb you appetite, and satisfy your cravings for crispy, delicious Papyrus.

It's pretty simple but I made the intro at Buffalo Wild Wings' website:

Rising Interest

Here are some stills for that thar sign:

Oh and if you guys have a picture or a video of Papyrus, get it to me! If it's a video, just use iFilm or YouTube or whatever and send me a link and I'll put the Papyrus you find up ASAP.

Politically/Typographically Charged

From Brandon:

it's from the Kansas Democratic Party website. Found it in an image search.

I won an American Graphic Design Award today for won of my print pieces!

yay me!

Congrats and thank you, Brandon!

Wine, sweat, and tears

So, Amy sent in some Papyrus a while ago and it was included in a previous post. Well the Papyrus perpetrator from that post is spreading the love now because he writes:
I was at this site, and suddenly I noticed that this seems to be Papyrus too:
